Big Bluestem (Andropogon gerardi)
Big Bluestem is one of the main grasses of the tall grass prairie. It is a tall, showy and very attractive bunch grass. The seedheads look like a "turkey foot" and turn a beautiful rusty colour in the fall. It is perfect for a tall border or garden backdrop and goes especially well with Indian Grass, Tall Coneflower, Purple Boneset, Ironplant and New England Aster.
