Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium)

Little Bluestem is a very attractive grass for landscaping, particularly during the fall. Its feathery white seedheads and orange-red foliage offer a great show of autumn colour. The seeds provide food for songbirds and the plant is a host for skipper butterflies and provides cover for ground birds and small mammals. It tolerates a wide range of soil types from clay-loam to gravel and sand, and has excellent drought resistance.
